ABOUT ME

Being a British Asian my work is an amalgamation of the roots I was born with and the culture I have been brought up in. Both are a result of who I am today and have a reflection on the work I produce.Creating worlds has always been a passion of mine, whether it is through my designs or paintings. I like to challenge my audiences interpretation of art by broadening their experiences through new and inventive ideas. My practice is forever growing and is influenced by the journeys I go through in life. Theatre is a very opportunist place for the mind of an artist; it is somewhere where they can create another world from their imagination. Stories unfold in a space using the art of performance, to form discussions and leave lasting impressions. For me the world of Theatre is the escape from reality and by creating an aesthetic, I am taking the audience into my vision of a story.

For me creating pieces of Art is a form of personal expression and exploration. My artwork is a tool to illustrate different moments in my life, both good and bad. I use a range of media from oil paints to plaster and wood, experimenting with textures and colours. Capturing these moments in a photograph lets me explore another media.

man. Journey from birth to death in moments. Explore your part in

this splendid sensory attraction. All the worlds a stage but

dare you illuminate your own entrance?

The Tunnel is an interactive installation for audience members to

experience individually. Each journey will last approximately 20

minutes.

A Pointed Arrow Production, 'The Crossing' was a series of sensory journey's from the four corners of the world. Part of Light Night 2010, the journey started from Victoria Gardens in Leeds city centre, where audiences would travel by 'boat' to Left Bank, Headingley. They would choose between the four paths, which were designed by four different designers; North, East, South and West, to start their journey. Oak Tree Events hosted a night of performances showcasing writers, directors actors, and designers. There was a total of three plays and each group performed their scenes rotationally. The audience were invited members of the industry, whom sat at tables where they could see the work of up and coming designers. The Island is an adaptation of Armin Greder's illustrated book, written by the talented Laura Lomas. This classroom play was a collaboration between Nottingham Playhouse (UK) and Det Norske Teatret (Norway), as part of the European Theatre Convention project Young Europe. The Island was toured in schools in both England and Norway.The story starts with a stranger washing up on a isolated island, where neither the islander nor the stranger can understand each other. Where the Islanders are suspicious about the newcomer the fisherwoman and her daughter Sammy stand up from him. They argue that the man should be integrated into the community but all refuse, even the priest. Overcome with their fears about the man they cast him back to the sea.

In the foyer of the Nottingham Playhouse there was an exhibition of the work produced by children from six local schools. In association with The Aladdin pantomine, which was playing on the main stage, children produced work to display to the visiting audience.Workshops were carried out at the schools, teaching a range of skills from drawing to printing.

Winner of the 'Nottingham Playhouse Prize'A speculative design of Bertolt Brecht's play, which satirises the horrors of World War Two. This design uses the concepts of Brecht's original playwright but with a modern day twist. This was achieved by juxtaposing World War Two with the War in Iraq.

The Tunnel is an interactive sensory installation based on Shakespeares notion of 'The Seven Ages of Man'. The audience member enters 'The Tunnel' and experiences these stages through a series of rooms. They will start from Birth and finish at Death.
